school case study

Project Overview

Kiddify is a learning app designed for children aged 3–8, offering interactive educational content through games, videos, and quizzes. The goal was to design a fun, intuitive, and safe digital space where kids can learn independently while parents track progress.

Purpose of the App

To make early education accessible, engaging, and joyful by combining playful UI with age-appropriate learning content. Kiddify helps develop foundational skills in literacy, numeracy, science, and emotional intelligence.

Problem Statement

Most existing learning apps for kids either overwhelm with ads, lack age-appropriate navigation, or don’t provide enough interactivity. Parents are also often left without tools to monitor learning progress.

Solution

  • A kid-friendly interface with bold visuals, large buttons, and playful sounds

  • Interactive modules for core subjects

  • Ad-free and safe environment

  • Parental dashboard with progress tracking

  • Reward system with stars, stickers, and virtual pets

  • Multisensory learning with sound, touch, and animations

  • Parent-child mode for joint learning

Key Features

  • 📚 Learning Modules: Alphabet, Numbers, Nature, Art, Emotions

  • 🎉 Interactive Rewards: Stars, stickers, unlockable items

  • 🎮 Gamified Activities: Drag-and-drop, matching, painting, quizzes

  • 👨‍👩‍👧 Parent Dashboard: Track time spent, topics covered, skills learned

  • 🔒 Safety Features: No external links, parental locks, offline mode

  • 🎤 Voice Guidance: Instructions read aloud for pre-literate users

Design Process

Empathize

  • Conducted interviews with 5 parents and 4 kindergarten teachers

  • Observed 10 kids interacting with existing learning apps

  • Surveys from 50+ parents on expectations and concerns

 Define

“Kids need intuitive, engaging learning environments that feel like play, while parents want structure, visibility, and control.”

 Ideate

  • Category-based navigation with recognizable icons (ABC, 123, Animals)

  • Friendly animated guides (mascots)

  • Parent lock and controlled content access

 Design

  • Used pastel colors, rounded corners, and large icons

  • Designed with minimal text and voice guidance

  • Typography: Poppins – modern, readable, and friendly

  • Color Palette: Sky Blue, Lemon Yellow, Coral Pink, Leaf Green

 Test

  • Usability testing with 6 kids (aged 3–8)

  • Parent feedback sessions on dashboard clarity and control

  • Iterated based on confusion points (e.g., replaced swipe gestures with tap buttons)
